Paige-Fest 2009

Once again, I was spoiled rotten for my birthday this year. I was lavished with generous gifts, kindness, phone calls, texts, and the newest addition - Facebook posts.

Growing up, your birthday wasn't just a day. Everyone gets a few days to be special. We have kept that tradition alive in our home, except for Mikey's 29th, which was the day William came home from the hospital. He was just fine with that, but I'll have to make up for it on his 30th. Although that done does fall three days after William's first. Hmmmm...Oh well, it's a good thing Mikey is low-key about his birthday!

Friday night, Mikey's parents babysat while Mikey and I positively gorged ourselves on sushi. We hadn't been out just the two of us in ages, and it was a wonderful treat. Plus, Mikey's dad re-installed the flag that hangs over our front steps. So we got a delicious meal, babysitters, and a handyman. What a deal! We were home by 7:15 - we couldn't help but laugh when we were pulling up in the driveway, and our (childless) neighbors were all dressed up for a night on the town. Their night had only just begun, while our night was about to wind down.

All weekend, the boys were very sweet to me. They pretty much left it up to me to decide what to eat/what to do/what to watch. Mikey did any chores I would normally do so I could just relax.

On Saturday afternoon, we grabbed margaritas with a few friends at Taco Milagro. I am completely obsessed with their sangria margaritas. It was William's first time to sit up in a high chair at a restaurant. He did so great! He probably spent about 15 or 20 minutes in there, and for the remainder of the two hours, he was passed around. I got cards and some outrageously good cupcakes (thanks, Monique!). Once again, we were home nice and early. As soon as all the people who wanted to see and be seen started showing up at Taco Milagro, I knew it was time to hit the road.

Sunday was my actual birthday, so William and Mikey made me cinnamon rolls. Since it was my birthday, I didn't feel THAT bad that I ate 4, and Mikey at 1. Whoops. We did a Skype call with my family at 9 and talked for a whole hour. That is the greatest technology ever. After W's nap, it was off to brunch with Grams, Gramps and Aunt Amy. Continuing the weekend theme of gorging myself, I ate an entire steak and egg pizza, some chocolate chip cookies, and drank white wine sangria. Yummmm.

William had his first taste of pickles and surprisingly didn't really make a silly face!

After brunch, we ended up at our place so I could open presents. Then came a lively round of "Rock Band" with Mikey and Amy switching off between guitar and drums, and Grams singing. She was not pleased with the song selection (I don't really like the songs on that game either), but she sang along! Amy did play guitar and sing at the same time for one song. Now that's what I call multi-tasking.

All in all, it was a wonderful Paige-Fest 2009. I felt very loved and very blessed.
