Major victory in the Brown household today. This may not seem like a big deal to anyone else, but it is to us...William and I went on our first solo errands! I wasn't allowed to drive or lift anything heavy for two weeks after surgery, and then the third week, I had my family or Mikey to cart us around wherever we needed to go. So today is really the first chance I had to get out and about on our own.
We went to Bed, Bath & Beyond and Right Start - both places that have items intended to help William sleep better on his back at night. He was a perfect angel on the trip except for a brief time when we were stuck in traffic on Kirby. But Mikey has learned that AM radio static calms him right down, and it did the trick again today. It turns out babies LOVE white noise. We discovered that my hair dryer has the same magical impact on him. We almost feel guilty about turning on the white noise because he really can't resist it - it's like a drug! But we have also learned to do whatever it takes to calm him down and get him to sleep when he's overtired. It's best for all of us.
