I do not want to forget a thing about this Mother's Day. We celebrated my very own day on Saturday, and it was perfect! Mikey made homemade blueberry muffins for breakfast, and William brought one to me in bed. He said, "Happy Mother's Day! Thank you for giving birth to me." :) Mikey had mentioned something about that the day before, and it obviously stuck with him because he said the same thing over and over this weekend. I thought it was the most adorable thing. William and Ryan had made me a card with a little help from Mikey, and I loved it. William even drew a picture of me. I should probably write that on the card because his brilliant, creative mind made the picture look a whole lot like scribbles. They brought me the muffin in the middle of a very necessary two and a half hour nap. Ryan decided sleep was for the birds the night before, but that nap did me a world of good.
Mikey took Ryan to the grocery store while I played with William. We realized that it was the first time in Ryan's nearly six months that he has left the house without me! I have gone plenty of places without him, but he has never left me at home. It was weird, and I was rather excited to love on him when he came home. I guess I've gotten used to carrying a 17-lb sack of potatoes on my left hip.
I treated myself to a hair cut that afternoon. That always feels fantastic, especially since I only go about twice a year. It was even better when I came home to raves about the cut. William said, "Wow, nice hair cut!" And it was totally unprompted. He is quite the charmer when he wants to be.
That night, Mikey made a delicious dinner and cleaned it all up. He makes dinner almost every night (I'm lucky like that), but that usually means the dishes are my responsibility. Not on Mother's Day. Yessssss.
The four of us went outside to play after dinner/before bed and enjoyed the nice weather. Then I got to read a very sweet William his bedtime stories, with Mikey and Ryan sitting on the bed with us.
It was my best Mother's Day yet, and I look forward to many more with my boys.
