Two weeks down

It's been two weeks since Ryan burst onto the Brown family scene, and so far so good. I do not intend to jinx anything by getting too specific, so I will just say that Ryan is a fantastic baby. We had his two-week check-up yesterday, and the little piggy has gained some serious weight! When we left the hospital, he was 7 lbs 1 oz (down from 7 lbs 9 oz at birth). As of yesterday, he was 8 lbs 2 oz. Someone is trying to catch up to his big brother! He also grew an inch - he is 50%ile in weight and 75%ile in length.

William seems to like his baby brother these days. He still loves to poke his brother's nose. He always says "hi," "bye," and "night night" to him and will give him kisses on the head. He says "pick up" and tries to get his hands under Ryan's arms like he sees us doing. This means we must keep an eagle eye on the two of them! No unsupervised time together.

My mom came into town earlier this week and is leaving tomorrow. She has been cooking up a storm and making sure I am not too overwhelmed. She has gotten to spend a lot of quality time with William, and she also takes Ryan off my hands early in the morning so I can catch a catnap before the day officially begins for me. Luckily, Mikey will resume this duty once Mom is gone. I really feel like that catnap fuels me for the day.

My first full day on my own with both boys is Monday. Wish me luck! I know I can do it - I'm just not sure how it'll all work. Hopefully everyone will be dressed, clean, fed, and reasonably happy. My expectations are not too high.

Here's a look at what we've been up to...

Ryan was quite well-behaved during our first family dinner.

First sponge bath. He doesn't like the body part but looooves getting his hair washed while his body is bundled up in a towel.

Hooray! He still loves me. It was touch and go there for awhile, and it made me very sad.

You will start to notice a theme. We spend a LOT of time in the glider. We moved it downstairs since Ryan isn't even sleeping in his room yet. Turns out the glider is great for baby-soothing and football-watching.

Dad of the year over here. This is during the UT/A&M game.

I bet Mikey never thought he would be reading a kids' book during the game. Neither one of them was paying all that much attention to the book though.

This is one sleepy child.

Love to see a big smile from my big boy.

I swear I am not a germaphobe - I'm not sure what inspired him to clean his kitchen with baby wipes.

I am one lucky lady.

William's head is truly ginormous.

William likes to help with baths and diaper changes by getting as close as he can to stepping on Ryan's head.

OK, so he knows he's not supposed to do this because he's likely to break the baby gear, but I had to snap a few pictures. He was so proud of himself.
