Day at the zoo

To celebrate Mikey's 30th birthday (which was coincidentally one month ago today), the three of us took our first family trip to the zoo. It was a beautiful day, and since it was a weekday afternoon, it felt like we had rented the place out. There was never more than one or two other families at an exhibit, and we often had the place to ourselves. Score!

He's not quite sure what to think about the giraffes.

Waving to the monkeys. William waves to everything. I think today he waved to raisins, the piano, the oven...but he does have a particular love for waving to animals.

He took his very first carousel ride on his daddy's 30th birthday.

Checking out all the gears at the top of the carousel.

Truth be told, I think Mikey and I enjoyed the zoo more than William did. Of course W loved being outside (he's definitely an outdoors kinda guy), but he didn't think the animals were any more exciting than our cats or dog. I would imagine that after another visit or two to the zoo, he will really get it.

OK, I know y'all don't really care to see pictures of the animals, but we took them - so I'm going to show a few. It proves that we can in fact point our camera away from William for brief moments in time.
