Are you ready?

This question is posed to me on a daily basis. I think my answer is different every time someone asks. I have a web countdown to my official due date, and tomorrow it will show 50 days until my due date. Considering my doctor said she is not likely to let me go any farther than 39 weeks, I'm thinking the maximum amount of time until Baby Brown is born is 43 days. That's approximately the amount of time it's been since we left for our Connecticut trip! Put in those terms, it sounds like no time at all!

So am I ready...

...to have my breath taken away by the love of our child? Yes.

...to sleep in two or three-hour increments? Not so much.

...to watch Mikey bond with his son? You bet.

...to either endure hours of painful labor or be cut open and sewn back up? Yikes.

...to take some time off work to focus on my newly expanded family? Absolutely.

...to finally share the baby's name with family and friends? Indeed.

...to watch as our parents embrace their new roles as grandparents? Yep.

...to transition back into clothes with defined waists, buttons, and zippers? Oh my goodness yes.

As you can see, the answer is complicated. It seems like there are more yeses than no's, but I still don't feel prepared. I'm guessing I will never really feel prepared though. As my mom keeps reminding me, people a lot dumber than us have figured out how to do this!

It's a very exciting time in our lives, and we look forward to introducing you all to our "Secret Agent Brown" as we dubbed him when we talked to the pediatrician yesterday.
