Odds and ends

I'm not sure why I post so rarely on here. A big part of it is that I feel like I don't have anything all that interesting or ground-breaking to say. I should probably get over that because I like reading my friends' blogs about their everyday experiences.

I feel very un-American that I have never really liked the Olympics. It probably has to do with the fact that the Olympics take over so much TV time. It's not like there's anything exciting airing on TV these days other than Project Runway, but all the fluff pieces on The Today Show are getting really old! However, I too have succumbed to Michael Phelps fever and have been enjoying the gymnastics. I could not care less about beach volleyball though! Mikey said track & field events are coming up, and that's not my thing either. Oh well, at least I can keep up with the Olympics talk at work thus far.

Baby boy Brown is doing great. He kept me from going to sleep last night with all his rolling and flipping. My online countdown ticker says that there are 93 days left until my due date. That really does not sound like long at all, especially since I don't think my doctor will let me get quite to full term. I want to get as close as I can, but she will likely do a c-section if he shows no sign of emerging on his own before about 39 weeks. Lots of people have been asking about my mom. Her plan is to fly to Houston toward the end of October, stay for a couple of weeks, go back to Connecticut for about a week and a half, and then come back for Thanksgiving. The baby and I are going to have some serious chats about him cooperating and showing up while his Grammy is in town. If he's anything like his dad, he will probably resist anything that isn't his own idea, so I may try to be creative on how I get the point across!

Mikey and I are going to Connecticut on Friday. It's only been two months since I've seen my family, but I can't wait to see them and their new digs. It just doesn't feel right to not know what their kitchen looks like or what neighborhood restaurants they frequent. And boy am I ever ready for a break from work. I will return to a hellish week, but I can't worry about that on vacation.

In very happy news, Ashley moved back to Texas this week, and Abbey is about to follow in a few weeks. Granted, neither of them will be in Houston, but Dallas and Austin (respectively) are way better than New York and Arkansas!
